Grayon’s head throbbed. His heart hurt. His body ached with the effort to keep the wolf down.

Chivalry had gotten him ousted. To Earth.

Where fucking vampires roamed.

Right on cue, the one in front of him took a step closer. Grayon jumped to his feet. The only vampires he knew had fought on his side, after their kind and his became allies. That had been back in his plane, though. For all he knew, this bloodsucker was out for Grayon’s blood.

“Chill out, pooch. I mean no harm.” Her giggle grated his nerves.

“I’m not a dog, and I doubt you could hurt me, Deadgirl.” He hunched his shoulders and lowered his body mass, preparing for a fight, if that was what she sought.

He relaxed when she stepped out of the shadows and within his field of vision. She barely came up to his clavicle and had to weigh less than a werefox in animal form.

His smirk was still forming on his lips, when she swept his legs from under him and landed him on his ass. His head thunked on a tree root. “Ow.”

The vampire came to stand next to him. “See? I can totally hurt you.” She was even shorter than he’d thought and balanced her weight effortlessly on chunky six-inch heels. Tight black leather stretched over her generous curves, and the tips of her jet-black hair were bright blue.

“What? You got a concussion now?” She nudged him with the toe of her lace-up boot.

Grayon growled. He rolled to the side and was back on his feet in no time, glad his head and sight were now clear. “Next time I’ll be ready, bloodsucker.”

It seemed as good a line as any, to end the unpleasant exchange with. He made a show of turning his back to her and hoped she couldn’t tell he had no clue where he headed. At least he had a plan. Once he put some distance between himself and the annoying female, he’d try to figure out exactly where the witch’s spell had landed him. He was pretty sure it’d be a terrible place. After all, the witch followed Xenon’s instructions, and Grayon was in the pack leader’s shit list these days.

“Like you know where you’re going.” The vampire’s voice came from ahead, and Grayon cursed under his breath. “I heard that,” the vampire said.

“Good. Now hear this too. Go the fuck away, or I’ll rip your head off.”

By the time he realized she was rushing him, he was on his ass again.

“You weren’t ready this time either.” She crossed her arms and looked down at him.

About Sotia

Photo 3-6-14 - 11 05 39-Sotia loves romances with a twist and urban fantasy novels, always with vivid erotic elements. Her favorite characters to write are not conventional hero-material at first glance, and she enjoys making them fight for their happiness.

She shares her life and living quarters with her husband, their son, and two rescue dogs, one of which may be part-pony. Sappy movies make her bawl like a baby, and she wishes she could take in all the stray dogs in the world.

Also, she hates mornings!

Annnnnd… here’s the sparkling brand new trailer for Magic At Work 🙂

I blame the heat that makes clothes go skimpy and hormones go wild, but July always seems feverish to me.

We are already hotheaded as a people, but as soon as July pokes its head around the corner, you can tell the difference—taste it in the air. Suddenly traffic is louder, with everyone quick to blare the horn at the world or the pedestrian taking his time to cross the road. The cafés are bustling with people soaking in the sun, and couples are making out everywhere you look.

The phones ring of the hook—exes looking for someone to share a weekend getaway, bosses yelling about deadlines they need met, and friends sharing sordid details from the night before.

And the beaches… The beaches seem about to sink under the weight of people looking to have fun and let their primal side out to play. Sweaty bodies going from the water to the bar to the nightclub, stolen looks, lingering touches, infectious laughter. Strangers become friends, lovers for a night or more, all chasing the sun, the sea, July, youth.

It’s like the universe itself is in a creative fever and births magic. The moon is somehow bigger. The sun brighter. The sea bluer.

But July can be unpredictable. While you’re out enjoying a warm evening, you may be faced with a sudden storm—like the one Lexi and Ric walk into in Magic at Work.

Ric threw some money on the table and rushed after her. He said something as she reached the exit, but Lexi didn’t pause.

She threw the door open and walked out.

Into the rain.

It was one of those sudden storms that give you no warning, no gradual gathering of clouds—nothing. They break out when you least expect them, soaking you to the core and leaving you with only two choices: either return to the safety of indoors, or run and play in them.

Lexi’s choice was made for her when Ric grabbed her arm. “Tried to tell you it was raining.” He took off in a light jog, dragging her with him.

She followed him to the end of the block and then around the corner and into an alley. The rain was loud—so loud, she could barely hear herself laugh. She hadn’t done anything like that since her high school years, when she’d try to coax Angie into following her but always ended up being the only one having to explain her drippy clothes.

She hadn’t cared about her clothes then and she didn’t care now, as Ric turned and pulled her against his body.

He was laughing with such unabashed glee, she just had to kiss him.

He was happy. Fucking unbelievably happy.

Lexi was there with him. Living it up, feeling alongside him. Her pink and white outfit was sodden and outlining her lithe body. Her makeup was smudged and her hair plastered to her cheeks, but she’d never looked more beautiful. She was a vision.

He inhaled deeply. Lexi and rain—no better scent on earth.

He turned them so her back was against the wall. She didn’t seem to mind the dirty bricks scraping the back of her white skirt, as she clung to him and he clung to her. Rain ran into his mouth, making their kiss more urgent. He fought for breath but never drew back from her lips for more than fractions of a second.

Her hands were clawing at his jacket, his own roaming her back, trying to raise her top, unzip her skirt. They both moved frantically, but the wet clothes resisted. Lexi was the first to give up trying to work her zipper. She raised her skirt with one hand and used the other and her thighs to climb up his body, then locked her wrists at the back of his neck.

She thought he hated her.

He thought she was too good for him.

Fate proved them both wrong.

On a slow day at work, Lexi Adams discovers an on-line erotic romance novel. Intrigued by the similarities she shares with the heroine, she starts reading and becomes enamored with the leading man. The problem is, she’s only able to access the novel on her work computer.

Ric Ackart, head of the IT department, suspects she’s slacking off and decides to find out what she does in front of her computer screen all day. His surprise at what takes up her time is overshadowed by the fact that the novel’s leading man shares his face and the name he used years ago..

Now Ric is forced to come to terms with his feelings for her―but Lexi isn’t willing to share more than her body…

The Next Big Thing?

The wonderful Sotia Lazu tagged me in this “freeze-tag style blog hop that’s going around Authorville.” Thanks Sotia * mwah mwah *
Basically, if you get tagged, fill out the questions on your own blog about your upcoming writing project, then tag five additional authors, linking to their blogs or websites. Don’t forget to let them know they were tagged. 🙂

Like most writers, I have more than one WIP. I have the first in a series of paranormal romances (OBSESSION) being published by Time & Tide in a couple of months, but I answered these questions for the short story that I’m about to self-publish. This should be online and available by end-January.

1. What is the title of your book?
Come To Me

2. Where did the idea come from for the book?
I love ghost stories and sexy cowboys, and the idea of combining the two was irresistible J

3. What genre does your book fall under?
Paranormal erotic romance

Matt Bomer

4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Hmmm… I usually have images in mind when I write, but this time I didn’t.

However, since I want a sweet talkin’ Texan for Jack, I think Matt Bomer would be a good starting point.

gemma atkinson

Summer is a Manchester girl. It seems appropriate to choose an English soap star, and Gemma Atkinson is perfect 🙂

5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
She fell in love with a ghost… who didn’t know he was dead

6. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Self-published. It’s my first foray into the murky waters of self-publishing… wish me luck!

2013 Come to Me.010-001

7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Two weeks, then it hung around for a few months before I brushed it off and started polishing it. On and off (while I worked on other manuscripts), it probably took 6 months in the background.

8. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I haven’t read any others quite like this…

9. Who or What inspired you to write this book?
My fellow Goodreads moderators (in the PNR NaUBA group) asked me to write a sexy paranormal scene for them. I asked them for some basic details – names of the male / female lead and secondary character, occupation of the female lead. I already had in mind a delicious cowboy for the male lead and I liked the idea of him being a ghost. I wrote it over the space of 2 weeks, posting a chapter at a time, for fun more than anything else. Thanks Mods – you know who you are  🙂

It was only after it was finished, and a couple of other friends liked it that I decided to self publish.

10. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
It’s sexy and spooky and fun. Dreaming about making love to a hot cowboy… what’s not to like?

And here’s the summary, so you can judge for yourselves whether you’d be interested:

Summer is a gifted psychic, and used to seeing spirits, but sexy cowboy Jack McKane is unlike any spirit she has ever encountered… For a start, he doesn’t know he’s dead.
When he begins to haunt her dreams as well as her séances, she knows she has to lay his ghost to rest, but can she bear the thought of never seeing him again?

I’m tagging the following five authors to be the Next Big Thing:

1. Sorcha Mowbray (yummy hot regency novellas)
2. Voirey Linger (* fans myself * fallen angels)
3. Ella Frank (The ‘Exquisite’ series of delicious restaurant owners – food and sex…. Dee-vine)
4. Dawn Jayne (angels like you’ve never seen before)
5. Tina Carreiro (a fresh new voice in vampires)

PS – Dawn’s latest book (UPRISING) is going to be featured as February Book Of The Month, in my Goodreads Group (PNR NaUBA) – isn’t this a GORGEOUS cover!
